Job Purpose/Objective
This position is responsible for day to day management of the IT department and its staff, as well as coordinates and oversees projects relating to system development and/or equipment which fall under the responsibility of the IT department. The IT Manager is responsible for directing and managing the daily operations and projects of the computer operations department and also responsible for leading the IT team, of support personnel, to efficiently and effectively carry out IT projects and support the company’s users with company communication and IT infrastructure and systems.

Essential Job Functions

• Plans, directs and manages the daily operations of a computer operations department
• Responsible for operation of mainframe and peripheral information system equipment and for developing schedules for equipment usage
• Leads a team of support personnel who troubleshoot IT issues
• Implements policies and procedures regarding how problems are identified, received, documented, distributed, and corrected
• Helps management lead and manage day to day operations
• Ability to gain an understanding of operational processes and needs as it relates to technology and communication equipment and work effectively with operational staff in the coordination of IT projects and identifying operational technology needs
• Ensures maximum issue resolutions in minimum time
• Evaluates new information systems products or services and suggests changes to existing products or services to better aide the end user
• Ensures proper functioning of company’s information processing system and makes upgrades as necessary
• Helps business operations utilize information systems to improve efficiency
• Keeps computer equipment, hardware, and software updated to meet organizational needs
• Maintains working relationships with vendors and third party providers, ensuring contracts are kept up to date and cost maintenance strategies are assessed and analyzed on a periodic basis
• Recommends appropriate maintenance strategies to ensure uninterrupted systems usage and proper backup and recovery procedures are adhered to Recommends adjustments to systems and/or equipment to ensure cost efficient and effective systems/equipment infrastructure
